Durmitor simply celebrates life – the wealth of flora and fauna, more than 1,500 species of plants, some of which are characteristic of the Arctic region. In the canyons of Piva and Tara, the presence of tertiary vegetation was recorded, and peatlands in the Durmitor lakes represent enclaves characteristic of the Siberian taiga. A very rare occurrence of the so-called “forest inversions”, which means that in several places above the level of conifers, a cover of deciduous beech vegetation appears.
