87% משטחה הררי, ולעיתים קיצוני בתוואי השטח שלו — רכסים גבוהים, קניונים עמוקים, מצוקים, ומעברים צרים בגבהים משתנים.
בשל המבנה הגאוגרפי הזה:
מזג האוויר משתנה בתוך דקות – משמש לשערה, מערפל לצלילות, ומרוחות שקטות לרוחות עזות.
באזורים כמו דורמיטור, פרוקלטיה וקניון הטארה — הפרשי גבהים חדים יוצרים מיקרו־אקלים קיצוני.
גם בקיץ השמשי ביותר — סערה פתאומית, ערפל כבד או ירידת שלג מוקדמת הם תרחיש שכיח לחלוטין.
מסלולים “בינוניים” עלולים להפוך במהירות למסוכנים מאוד למי שאינו ערוך ומתוכנן היטב.

תאריך: 13.10.2025
בשעה 14:42 התקבל דיווח במוקד החירום 112 על זוג מטיילים ישראלים שנתקעו במורד מושלג ותלול במסלול “הדוב הקטן”.
המסלול נחשב קשה גם בקיץ — ובשבוע שקדם לאירוע ירדו למעלה מ־50 ס”מ שלג.
הגורמים שלקחו חלק:

15:00 – הדיווח הועבר לגורמים הישראלים
הוקם חפ”ק משותף ותואם מבצע חילוץ מלא.
15:15 – יציאת כוחות לשטח
השטח היה קשה במיוחד: שלג עמוק, קרח, מדרונות תלולים וראות מוגבלת.
17:42 – איתור המטיילים
השניים נמצאו מותשים מקור ועייפות — אך ללא פציעות.
החלטה מקצועית: חילוץ רגלי
החילוץ האווירי לא היה אפשרי בתנאי מזג האוויר והראות.
21:40 – סיום המבצע
הזוג חולץ בשלום, עבר בדיקה רפואית ונמצא במצב טוב.
