This special adventure was created for the incredible mothers, in partnership with the Erez Foundation and the Mother Lioness Association. It’s a story of resilience and connection, set against one of the Adriatic’s most stunning backdrops: Boka Kotorska, the Bay of Kotor.

A Scenic Journey to Kotor

Despite scorching heat over 45°C and wildfires spreading across Montenegro, our team quickly adapted the route to create a safe yet magical experience. The group traveled along Montenegro’s stunning coastline toward Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its medieval old town and dramatic mountain setting.

Though a three-hour traffic delay turned the drive into a slow adventure, the time was filled with music, meaningful conversations, and fascinating stories about Montenegro’s history and culture.

Private Boat Tour of Boka Kotorska

From Kotor’s marina, the group embarked on an exclusive private boat tour of the Bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska), often called Europe’s southernmost fjord. Towering cliffs surround this deep blue bay, dotted with historic villages and Venetian-era palaces.

Perast

The boat glided past Perast, a 17th-century baroque gem that once thrived as a Venetian port. Today, its stone palaces, bell towers, and quiet waterfront make it a picture-perfect Adriatic town.

Our Lady of the Rocks (Gospa od Škrpjela)

Just offshore lies Gospa od Škrpjela, a legendary man-made island topped with a beautiful church. Sailors began building the island centuries ago by placing rocks at the same spot after every safe voyage. The church is now a cultural treasure, filled with maritime paintings, silver plaques, and a touching sense of history.

Verige Strait

The group passed through the Verige Strait, the bay’s narrowest point. Historically, giant chains were stretched across this natural bottleneck to protect Kotor from invaders, turning it into a strategic maritime gateway.

Submarine Tunnels

Hidden in the cliffs are abandoned submarine tunnels, once top-secret Yugoslav military facilities during the Cold War. These tunnels, large enough to shelter entire submarines, now stand as fascinating reminders of Montenegro’s naval history.

Mamula Island

At the entrance to the bay, Mamula Island rises from the water with its imposing 19th-century fortress. Once a prison and a military stronghold, Mamula has been carefully transformed into a luxury resort that preserves its dramatic history.

Blue Cave (Plava Špilja)

The highlight of the day was a swim in the famous Blue Cave (Plava Špilja), where sunlight reflects off the sea floor to create a glowing, electric-blue effect. The group enjoyed time in this magical grotto, surrounded by sparkling waters and Montenegro’s rugged coastline.

The boat anchored in a peaceful, protected cove, giving everyone the chance to swim, float, and enjoy Montenegro’s crystal-clear waters.

Kotor Old Town Discovery

Back on land, the group explored Kotor’s Old Town, a labyrinth of cobblestone streets, medieval squares, and centuries-old churches. Towering city walls climb steeply into the mountains, making this one of the most photogenic towns in the Adriatic.

Shopping Stops and Evening Reflections

Before returning to the hotel, the group stopped at Kotor’s boutique shopping center and made a fun visit to Jumbo, a favorite for unique souvenirs. The evening concluded with a special group dinner, celebrating the unforgettable memories of the day.

Seeing the smiles and joy of these remarkable mothers was the greatest highlight of all—a day of laughter, beauty, and connection.
